You Fill In The Blank

Philippians. Love it. Lu-HUV it. One of the gals in my Bible study, Kim Heinecke, brought up something so awesome that I must share it with you, my internet peeps. Kim and I have similar stories with much different outcomes. And we’re both living blessed lives. She will tell you that her life is the best but I, of course, have to argue that one. I mean seriously, I have the best man alive as my husband AND I have five letters in my first name and five letters in my last name. I know. Regarding verses 12-14 in the 1st chapter, she asks, “How would I fill in the blanks? How do my struggles advance the gospel?” She took the liberty to fill in the blanks for me and I must say, it moved me. Take a look.
Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to Cindy and her encounter with infidelity in marriage has really served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that our God is big enough to redeem all things and to restore that which was broken and wounded. Because of my [her] chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to guard our hearts in marriage and to pray for our spouses but to look to Christ to fill all the voids.
It’s your turn now. Whether you’ve endured some extremely painful circumstances in your life or not, we all have a story to share. Here’s the passage:
Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me ___________________ has really served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that _______________________. Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to ___________.
Share with the rest of us how your life is advancing the gospel. (Previously posted on September 23, 2008.)

  1. Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to Brandi with her painful past with negativity and tragedy and teen pregnancy, has really served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that God is breaking generational curses in her family_. Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to the there is a healing in everyone’s spirit when they have a relationship with God.

  2. Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me __Melissa and her husband who lost his job two months into their marriage and hasn’t found work almost a year later__ has really served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that __we need to trust in our GOD that he has a plan for us all, HIS timing is perfect, and we will be ok__. Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to __renew my faith, recommit my life, and serve my GOD that has provided for me time and time again when I couldn’t find a way__.

  3. I want you brothers and sisters to know that what has happened to Kimberly and her life experience of abuse & marriage issues has helped to spread the Gospel. All the palace guards and everyone else knows that God has healed me and my marriage and can heal you also. Because I am in prison, most of the believers have been encouraged to seek refuge in the LORD and speak out against abuse and praying for their salvation in Jesus and growing my faith and relationship with God.

  4. thank you for posting this! it is an encouragement to me right now! i don’t feel i can write this…yet. i KNOW God is writing my story. i KNOW i will be able to fill in those blanks one day. i just can’t today. and that’s ok. because i know God is walking with me and IS writing my story.
my husband did all the teaching at our little church plant, so we’ve been using Lifechurch’s sermon videos for our services for now. we actually just started the Joy series this past sunday and it rocked me. in a good way! it gave me hope. and it gave me freedom to seek and work at joy in these dark days. it’s ok to find joy. it’s good to find God’s joy amidst the pain. i think this will be a good series! and this post was a GREAT supplement to our service on sunday!

  5. i remember loving this the first time you posted it. and it still gets me now in that same way. wow.
