Wisdom Beyond Your Years

As a young adult, I decided to take God at His Word.  Meaning, I began to believe that what He said was true. And what he commanded, I should do.  Many might not consider the following verse a command, but more like a suggestion:

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

So my prayer for nearly 15 years has been: “God, please give me wisdom beyond my years.”

And He has.

I know He has because my momma says He has.  And we all know when momma says something like that, she’s right.

One of the ways I believe I have been granted wisdom beyond my years is through my experiences.  I’ve seen 30-year olds with more wisdom than 80-year olds.  How is that possible?  Because we are supposed to learn from our experiences.  But, if we don’t let the hard knocks in life teach us what we need to learn, then the difficulties we have faced were for naught.  Nada.  Zilch.

They yield no fruit.

And I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to stay the same.  I want to learn from every situation that I’m placed in. So, I make sure the posture of my heart is submissive and the palms of my hands are willingly open to lay aside anything that Cindy wants in life. Because I’ve been bought with a price…my life is not my own.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

  1. Cindy… I’ve had a similar life experience.

My mama always told me to pay attention. Because I will learn something and it will come in handy some day. I haven’t prayed exactly your words, but, I’ve prayed that God use me in whatever manner befitting HIM. He has, lots. I’m sure He will continue.

    Thank You Lord!
