When was the last time you were so incredibly desperate for Jesus?

When was the last time I was?

Desperate enough to bloody my knees in prayer over the salvation of others?
Desperate enough to redden my eyes with tears as I’m bearing another’s burden?
Desperate enough to live free from the things that try and bind me?

According to Webster, one of the definitions for desperate is “employing extreme measures in an attempt to escape defeat or frustration.” It goes on to say that desperate “implies despair that prompts reckless action or violence in the face of defeat or frustration.”

There were some guys in the Bible who were desperate. It’s such a great story that you really should read. And then read again. But here’s the gist of it:

Jesus came to town.
Jesus preached.
People showed up. (Lots of people.)
Sick man arrives at meeting being carried by his friends.
Sick man couldn’t get to Jesus.
Friends climbed to the roof with sick friend.
Friends dug through the roof and made an opening for sick friend.
Friends lowered sick friend down to Jesus.
Jesus saw their faith.
Jesus forgave and healed sick man.

Boom.

Are we placing all of our eggs in His basket?
Are we going all in for Him and with Him?
Are we willing to break through a proverbial roof to get to Him?

Sit on that for a while. Ask Him where you are relying on yourself more than you are relying on Him. Because that’s the point. Relying on Jesus, not self.\
