Sixteen years ago today, I woke up expected to be pampered. Manicure, hair appointment, brunch with my bridesmaids. Sixteen years ago today, the Texas weather was it’s typical January self sporting spring-like temperatures for the beginning of my new life. Sixteen years ago today, family members were traveling into town in their Sunday best to witness a new union. Sixteen years ago today, I entered a sanctuary to find my knight in shining tuxedo waiting to see me in my wedding dress for the first time. Sixteen years ago today, I had a brother on each arm giving me away to the man of my dreams. Sixteen years ago today, Charles Beall sang The Lord’s Prayer acapella at the alter and brought tears to our eyes. Sixteen years ago today, Cindy Moehring became Mrs. Chris Beall. These past sixteen years have been deceptive. Deceptive because in many ways it seems like only yesterday we met and in others, like we’ve known each other our entire lives. The memories I had before January 9, 1993, are slowly getting outweighed by the memories I am making with him in these past sixteen years. Who would have ever thought that two strong-minded individuals could work so well together as a married couple. We’ve had our share of fights and heartaches, but we’ve always made ammends. Call it being soul mates or destined to be with one another. Call it whatever you deem appropriate. All I know is that it works. For sixteen years it has worked. I am still smitten with this man of mine.
