Our flesh loves to be fed. So, let’s starve it by feeding our spirits.

Have you ever wondered why you keep doing the same things over and over again that you wish you wouldn’t do? Those things that, no matter how hard your effort is, you cannot seem to eradicate them from your life?

Me, too.

It’s so easy to direct our focus on the things that we need to stop doing. Whatever our vice, we must find a way to live in freedom from its grip.  So how do we do this?

We quit giving our flesh so much attention.

Galatians 5 tells us that we are to “let the Holy Spirit guide our lives and THEN we won’t be doing what our sinful nature craves.” This is so very simple to understand yet so very grueling to accomplish. Why?

Our flesh loves to be fed. So, let’s starve it by feeding our spirits.

You know it’s true.

But everyday is a new day to begin again. We don’t have to live defeated anymore just because we give into what our flesh wants. And just in case you aren’t sure if your flesh is leading you to do things, ask yourself these questions: “Where am I out of control in my life? Where do I feel like I can never gain traction?”

Then that’s your area.

Now, you are self-aware that this is an issue that you must address. Now that you know, begin feeding your spirit so that your flesh will lose its grip and eventually starve. How do you feed your spirit? Do things that make you grow in your faith. Basically, do the things that bring you closer to God and do them throughout the day.

Our flesh loves to be fed. So, let’s starve it by feeding our spirits.

  1. Cindy, please help me. I can not get past my husband’s infidelity. A year and a half ago he confessed. He is remorseful. He tries to help me through it, but has recently gave up trying because he feels it has done no good. We have no home church and I can’t afford counseling so I read your books and listen to videos. He is doing great. I am not. I love the Lord. He has brought us through alot, I’m just not over this that Ed has done against us. There is alot more to our story. I’m just not sure this will reach you so I won’t go any further
