Now That’s Some Pig!

I love the book Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White. Love. It. If you haven’t read it, it is a must read to your children. But I must warn you that in the end, Charlotte, the spider, does indeed die. It’s a little sad, but still a great story that I just finished reading aloud to my boys. As I was finishing up the second to the last chapter where Charlotte dies, I read the words stating just that. When I read the words “Charlotte died” (or something like that), my youngest, Seth, who is 6 1/2 years old popped his little head up and said, “Who’s Charlotte?” And that, my friends, is how homeschooling my children is going. Have a great week!

  1. That is ONE TERRIFIC kid! 🙂 This made me laugh out loud! My nine year-old can be the same way. He asks, “What do you mean?” for EVERYTHING. It has me kooky some days. To make you feel better, here’s how our CW experience would have gone:

    Me: “Charlotte died.”

    Him: “What do you mean?”

    Me: “She died.”

    Him: “What do you mean?”

Me: “She’s dead. No more. Kaput.”

Him: “Yeah, but what do you mean?”

I have no idea if I have an esoteric thinker on my hands or if he just enjoys tormenting his mom. 😉

I am sure you are doing fabo at the homeschooling thing – no doubt! Let me know if you need to work in a field trip to the capital of the confederacy and we’ll surley be your hosts! 🙂

  2. awwww, sweet Seth. Do you wonder what he was imagining as you read the story. A lego shaped pig? Flying spiders on the PS3? Or running rats named Templeton over with his dirt bike? =)

  3. So happy for you. Wishing I had the courage, knowledge, energy (whatever it is) to follow suit. I have had the heart/desire since Cate (6) started kindergarten last year but is too afraid I would be good at it with the all 3 kids 6,4,2 at home plus adding another job?? Now she is in first grade and can’t believe how much and fast they learn. I want her home with me I just need a private teacher to come do that whole part. I would love to hear some specific, practical advise on how this works. Still to scared, Sara

  4. Absolutely a genuine homeschool experience! I adore Charlotte’s Web and always have. This story makes me smile!

  5. Oh Cindy….I needed that laugh and tonight was the night I went back on archives and got it. Thanks. LOVE YOU SETH!! That’s how my week of HS is going 🙂
