No More Porn, Please

Many people ask about my husband’s freedom and victory from pornography. How does he do it? What tools does he use to ensure success? Does he ever struggle anymore? Chris will be the first to tell you that walking in victory does not mean that he isn’t tempted or enticed anymore. Look at the world we live in and you should be able to figure that one out PRIH-tee quick. Chris is held accountable by a few men in his life, but he is also very proactive about the things he does and places he goes. He is constantly in touch with me when he travels and does not travel alone. In fact, he has taken our oldest son with him as his travel companion on a couple of trips. Good father/son bonding. Or as they call it, BBT…Beall Boy Time. But probably the most incredible way that has helped him walk in freedom from the bondage that once held him captive to the sin of pornography is by protecting our computers. There are two softwares we use:

Both of these softwares track every website that your computer visits. With each of these, a report is sent to the people who are holding you accountable every week or two weeks. (Frequency of reports is your choice.) If you have not checked either of these two softwares out, please do. Even if you don’t think pornography is an issue in your life or the lives of those you love dearest, it’s just a wise idea to be on your guard from the lustful dangers soliciting our attention on the internet. My two cents.

  1. my husband uses covenant eyes also.

thanks for bring those software programs to everyone attention. i think a lot of people aren’t aware they are out there and so easy to use!

  2. You are so right! Filters on computers, whether or not there has been a struggle in this area, are so important! We have so little control on the content outside our homes, but we have full control, if we choose, on what goes on in our homes. We use several different filters on our computers. My husband has a tab on his website called “Internet Content Filters” that list out some really good filters and describes what they do as well.

Also for any men looking for a website for men this is a great one! Please stop by and let him know you were there!

  3. i never knew this was a problem – every one talked about it at church – but since – at the time i was single – i just thought – it doesn’t affect me.
then one day i was sitting with my husband ( before we were married) looking up some thing on e- bay and some of the items that came up were…umm… not fit for any ones eyes to see… i was SHOCKED!! i was looking up wedding gifts on e bay and this is what i got!!! my future husband told me all about the dangers of porn and how very easy it is to slip into seeing it on the computer ect. so the next day he installed xxx on my computer so that way his buddy would know what was being looked at – even at my house…
but i was heart broken for the girls on the screen…

  4. Great information especially for homes with teenage boys. There is no unsupervised computer time in our house. Our computer sits in a very public place and I am very very nosey! 🙂

  5. We are not doing this on our own for God is our sword and shield.

We pray to God to break us of our generation curses.

    God will deliver us.

    God will restore us.

    Thank you, Cindy.

  6. awesome!!! my husband has counseled guys to actually get rid of their computers if they care enough. I haven’t heard about the one that sends reports. i like that.

  7. Thank you for making this info known. The technology to help addicts like me break the chains without tossing out our computers is pretty amazing!

I personally use the X3Watch accountability software (which sends reports to my sponsor) and Blue Coat K9 web filter, which is free and does an excellent job of protecting my computer.

  8. Thanks for your wise words here! Pornography is a big problem, even in the church today.

Covenant Eyes has some great features. You can see the reports online 24/7. They also have a dynamic website scoring system: the reports show a complete record of Internet surfing activity with scores next to each URL.
