Living Beyond Myself

Myself. Me. What I can actually do. Spreadsheets, organize, clean, sing, write, be a friend, go up and down the stairs scooting on my booty. Those several things come easy to me. I don’t really need to think or concentrate or give any extra special attention. I just do them. Sometimes more than one at a time. Stop the applause. But the more important things such as marriage, motherhood and mentoring are callings on my life that are beyond me. Being a wife, a mom and a mentor to women is something with which I need assistance. Every single day. Assistance of a higher power, if you will. John 14:16-17 says:

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

Did you catch that? God’s Spirit lives WITH me and will be IN me because I know Christ as my Lord and Savior.

And if you know Him, too, He’s taken up residence in you as well. His dwelling place, if you will.

That deserves a “HOLLA” if anything ever did.

So you have a struggle with your child and have no idea what to do. Your job situation is not going according to plan. A relationship that needs to be mended is far out of your reach. The life is gone from your marriage and you are clueless at how to resuscitate it.

Those things are beyond you.

Think it’s time for you to lean on the One who makes all things new.

  1. Sometimes I forget that I’m not the Holy Spirit and try to do things only He can do instead of doing things with Him. Good one, Mrs. Beall.

  2. Yes! Funny I just wrote about how I think raising children is God’s way of getting us on our knees. If we could do it all, we might start to think we don’t need him. Yikes!

  3. I needed to hear that …I’ve been struggling with the parenting thing (discipline, consisitency, those typical issues) lately and definitely needed the reminder that it is bigger than me. Today is a NEW parenting day in Him!

  4. I love that you give the credit to God! You are an awesome mother, wife and mentor but you know that it is God in you being the ONE that keeps all of that on track. You would still be good but maybe not Awesome without Him. Lady he blesses you ten fold to help us all. 🙂
