You know, I’m really starting to think that the guys on AI got it goin’ on this year. I think there are some girls with great talent, but I feel quite certain that a guy will be the next American Idol. Oh, and please go back and say American Idol again with the emphasis on MER just like Ryan Seacrest. You know that’s some good fun. The Guys! Overall, we were fairly pleased with the performances. How could we not be? Hello? 1980’s? That’s what I thought. I loved the 80’s. Absolutely loved them. Except for the puffed up bangs I used to sport with my bright blue eye liner accompanied with white eye shadow. Oh yes I did. We really loved the performance by David Cook. Lionel Richie would be proud. What a terrific arrangement. Michael Johns picked a really great song and let’s face it, we’ll be watching him on stage some day. He’s just good and looks like a natural up there. Jason Castro seems to have the judges favor. He’s a little on the dreamy side if you can get past his dreads. Unless you are a dreads kind of gal. AND he’s from Rockwall, Texas. Who doesn’t love Rockwall, Texas?! David Hernandez is a standout to me. I really like his voice. Not sure if he can win the whole thing, but I think he’ll go far. Our sweet, little David Archuleta did a good job but was actually having a few pitch problems. Do my ears deceive me? I didn’t think that child could hit a wrong note. But, all in all, he’s still a remarkable performer and singer. He could sing the yellow pages and probably make it to the finale. Danny Noriega. What in the world can I say about him? Dare I tell you that he is starting to grow on me? Just a little, but hopefully I’ll get over that 🙂 His performance was not amazing, not awful. Just alright. Chikezie is NOT giving up, is he? Does anyone else think he sounds like Luther Vandross? Of course we cannot forget Luke Menard. Even though the judges weren’t too keen on his rendition of Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, Chris and I thought it was a perfect song choice for him. The Girls! Overall the girls were better than last week. Best performances of the night goes to Brooke White and Ramiele Malubay. Both chose great songs. Brooke doesn’t have a powerhouse of a voice, but she’ll sell some CD’s with it. I’d buy one. Ramiele couldn’t have chosen a better song. Love me some Phil Collins. My two least favorite contestants are Amanda Overmeyer and Carly Smithson. I guess everyone truly does have their opinion. The judges think Carly is all that and quite frankly, I’m kinda bored with her. Amanda actually did good by choosing a Joan Jett song but Chris and I are just over that whole rock ‘n roll gig she’s got goin’ on. But that’s just us. I’m a big fan of Syesha Mercado. Not saying she’ll win the whole thing but I just like her. I also felt this way about Jennifer Hudson. Remember her? Yeah, she’s at home watching AI with her Oscar. Poor thang. Kristy Lee Cook’s little country spin on Journey’s hit might have secured her a spot in the Top 12. Kady Malloy just doesn’t have favor with the judges. She’s not my favorite either but she can sing. Asia’h Epperson seemed a little on the nasal side tonight. And the outfit? Hmmm. The Beall’s prediction? The top six guys will be: David Cook, Jason Castro, Michael Johns, David Archuleta, Danny Noriega and David Hernandez. We think we’ll say goodbye to Chikezie and Luke Menard. The top six girls will be: Syesha Mercado, Carly Smithson, Amanda Overmeyer, Ramiele Malubay, Brooke White and Kristy Lee Cook. We’ve probably heard Asia’h Epperson and Kady Malloy for the last time. But who really ever knows, right?
