Is Your Heart Grateful?

Teaching gratitude to my sons has proven to be one of the most difficult tasks I’ve faced as their mother.  They are such blessed little boys.  They have parents who are still married and crazy about each other.  They never have to think about their next meal.  They have friends out the wazoo vying for their attention on a daily basis.  And when they need new clothes, we are able to get them.  Boys sure are tough on blue jeans, if you know what I’m sayin’. But I think the greatest thing I’ve learned is that teaching them gratitude has to be modeled by their teacher.  I must model my gratitude by expressing on a daily basis how thankful I am for the life I live and for those who live this life with me. A difficult task it is but a necessary one.  An absolutely necessary one. The song I Will Not Forget You by 100 Portraits is one that resonates in my heart as I live this life I’ve been given.  I hope it does in yours, too.
A grateful heart I bring, a thankful prayer I pray, a wild dance I dance before you.  A loud song I sing, a huge bell I ring, a life of praise I live before you.
Now, put on your dancin’ shoes and get at it. On this American Thanksgiving Day, may we all remember just how blessed we are.

  1. thankful for you and your writing. your willingness to put it all out there. you bless people, ya know?

    happy thanksgiving, girl!

  2. “Boys sure are tough on blue jeans, if you know what I’m sayin’.”

The boys (older two) currently have on one pair of jeans each that DON’T have a tear at the knee. What IS it with boys and jeans? 😆

The baby of course has jeans still in tact. I don’t let him outside. ha!

  3. My thanksgiving was scary but I am thankful! My husband and children (I wasn’t in the car) were in a serious auto accident. My girls are fine. My son had several lacerations to his forehead/eye area and required surgery. He just home from the hospital today. My husband had internal injuries and is in the hospital until Tue/Wed.
My family was spared! They will be healed! We kept thanking the Lord for sparing them!

  4. C-mo,
I love reading your blog. It is like a 4th period note from History while we were in HS but grown up content. When did THAT happen?? Grown up- sheesh. I read in a magazine once that if the only prayer you ever utter is Thank you, God, Thank you, that is enough. I tend to be a little wordier in my prayers but it made me realize I need to be more grateful for what I have been given. Now when MY Noah hears me pray, he hears the thank yous and it is becoming part of his nightly prayers as well. Gratitude often goes unnoticed. I am thankful for you for the past 26 years- Oh my goodness- we can’t be that old. I am thankful to have made it this far intact.

  5. great song… and all the funky percussion sounds throughout it? i love it.

i hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving. i am thankful for you.
