Got Anxiety?

God’s got bigger things to worry about than me.
Two things. God does not worry, and He absolutely adores you. Over the years I’ve encouraged people to pray about things.  About tires for their cars, about clothes for the kiddos, about finding good deals so they’ll steward their money better.  About a lot of things that seem piddly.  And I’m usually met with a reply such as the one above. I’d like to step up a little bit more onto my soapbox and show you that the Creator of the Universe came up with this idea.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:6-7
We shouldn’t be anxious about anything.  We should pray about everything. Any questions?

  1. I grew listening to mother pray for things like washer and dryers. And, ya know what? They would start working again. People started asking her to pray for things like their toaster 🙂 My momma know that God cares for her.

  2. Yeah…Dusty is God’s fave 🙂 Love her!

Cindy…no questions…you pretty much covered it. It’s still a hard one to do sometimes….not be anxious. What a freeing place- to trust our lives to the Creator of the Universe!!

  3. i love this verse. this is my life verse – so to speak – i eat this verse like candy when i quit smoking.
thanks for reminding me this morning how much God truly cares for us

  4. thanks for the reminder. i needed it.

ever find yourself in a place where it’s hard to pray? i feel speechless. but i will try. today.

  5. That is my life verse, and I think the first one I memorized (other than John 3:16 of course)! I have such a hard time putting it in to practice though, I am a worrier! And much more so since I became a Mom!

  6. I am continually amazed at how God speaks to me through your blog. I have been very anxious about a pending new job my husband may get. He has a second interview tomorrow, and I was JUST telling God how nervous my stomach is and I want to be calm! Thank you for writing what the Lord impresses upon your heart…He has a purpose in it all!

  7. And after your prayers are answered (sometimes the best answer is no) make sure you say thank you. 🙂

  8. I prayed over a pencil sharpener on Monday. It felt a little ridiculous, but I followed up with, “God, you said to pray about everything, so I’m just doing what you told me.”

  9. Well said!! I love this verse and always need a little reminder. Today, God cared enough about ME, to give me a day full of sunshine for my birthday… not always a given in the Northeast in the winter!!

  10. Wow! I just re-read this verse last night, and then looked it up on youversion to see what content had been added. There was a lifechurch message related to it, so I watched that. And now, your blog post today! I do NOT believe in coincidences, but that God gets our attention through “coincidences” like this. How fun!
