Do You Know Your Number?

Watch those ads. You can get your free credit score from them but when you do it, you enroll in a program where they monitor your credit for a fee each month. Sure, the first 30 days are free but when you try to cancel…boy hidee. It’s important to know your credit score as well as keep up with any kind of fraudulent charges or inaccurate reportings, but just beware of any sneakiness. Credit scores range from 300 to 850. My credit was run back in April of last year and it was 775 or something amazing like that. Could have been 779 or 783. Can’t remember for sure. Guess you could say that when it comes to credit scores, I’m kind of a big deal. I’m just sayin’.

  1. @Joe – yikes. what if you do need it? what if God’s plan for provision involves you being responsible with money and therefore having a strong credit score? i’m just sayin’.

@Cindy – Thanks for the heads up on the fee. Those things are so tricky. Weird that a credit reporting place would do something that could possibly jack up your credit…ironic.

I don’t know my credit score. I’m ashamed.

  2. Joe…just pay on time and honor your debts and you’ll make up for it.
Scott…Check into paying for your credit score one time. That way, you won’t have some recurring fee. I’m just sayin’ 🙂

  3. So funny that you posted about this because i just found mine out last week! I was always curious what it was and being 26 and with quite a bit of debt, i thought it would be terrible…but it’s actually really good! I used http://www.myfico.com and it’s a great site. Suze Orman always suggests this site and it isn’t expensive. 🙂

  4. I do none of our finances but I know keeping a good credit score was like a sport for Jerome for a long time 🙂
