Book Review: Plan B by Pete Wilson

I hope to meet Pete one day.  Actually, I really hope to meet his wife, Brandi.  (Sorry, Pete.) Plan-B-by-Pete-Wilson2 A lot of things in life don’t happen the way we expect.  Not only that, but we think (hope) God is supposed to do a certain thing and when He doesn’t, we often feel let down. (Which I think is a rather self-centered approach to life.) (But that’s an entirely different blog post.) I haven’t finished the entire book simply because I’m writing my own and have a November 15 deadline to meet.  But, I have read a lot of it.  Pete shares Biblical stories to help us grasp this concept of Plan B.  He also talks about his personal experiences which help the reader understand that just because he’s writing about this concept doesn’t mean that his life is altogether neat. (How can it be altogether neat when you have three little boys living in your house?  Amen, Brandi?) You may be in a great season in your life right now and those ducks of yours may be in a row.  Good for you.  But, life is messy and there will come a time when you have to figure out how to navigate the why didn’t God show up the way I thought he would waters one day.  This book will help you do just that. To get Pete’s book, go here:  Plan B.

  1. I’m a big fan of the Plan B book, although admittedly it’s been a little difficult reading it. It’s tough when Pete so closely examines so many Plan B situations, because it really forces you to look at your own life and all the times when things didn’t go according to plan. But I’m a big believer, and I even wrote this on my own blog, that what I consider my Plan B may very well be God’s Plan A for my life. Who am I to judge?

  2. you’re too sweet! one thing i’ve come to realize is everyone has had a plan b moment… unfortunately sometimes more than one.

may 2011…. hoping you make it to the leading and loving it retreat!!!

  3. I miss you.

I haven’t been reading blogs lately. But had to laugh that 2 of the 3 books you reviewed I am in the middle of reading. At the same time. If one doesn’t make you think the other will….In this case they both make you think big!

Can’t wait for your book. I feel like it has been years that I have been waiting!! 🙂

  4. Okay, this peaked my interest and I went out for lunch and bought this book at the local Family Christian Bookstore.

I read the first chapter and I know this book is for me right now. I have had four major events (all of which were mentioned in the first chapter) happen to me in the last three years.

Thanks for guiding me to this book.
