It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it. (New Living Translation)As a Christ follower for most of my life, I have often wondered if I’ve made a difference in someone’s life. In my 39 years of living on this earth, I can’t even remember the amount of times I’ve shared the love of God through the Bible in hopes that someone might accept Jesus and come to know him and love him and serve him. You can imagine how freeing it is to me to know that God has addressed this in His Word. So, when I’ve shared the gospel and the person looks at me like I’m crazy, I will believe that “it will always produce fruit” and when I’ve offered the hope of God to a wounded individual and they don’t heed my words, I will trust that “it will accomplish all God wants it to.” Have hope, my fellow Christ followers. Our job is to share Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. God’s work is to do the rest.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. (New Living Translation)I’ve been operating in my spiritual gifts for the better part of my adult life. I know how I’m wired, and I use that to benefit others. Because my top spiritual gifts are wisdom and exhortation, I love the verse above. I love it because the Word of God, the entire 66 books of the Bible, are truly inspired by God. Each and every word is useful in our lives to help us “realize what is wrong” and to “teach us to do what is right.” I have not achieved perfection on this earth. I don’t have it all together. There are days when an onlooker might not even think I am a Christ follower. But I do know where to go when those days come. I go to the Word. I hear what God has to say about my plight. And then I press on to walk as closely to Him as possible. Thank you, God, for giving us hope, guidance and inspiration as we journey through this thing called life.
All praise to the God and Father of our Master, Jesus the Messiah! Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us. (The Message)Isn’t that just beautiful? God certainly doesn’t want us to suffer in pain anymore than I want to watch my five-year get staples put into his head. But, life happens. People get hurt because this world is full of people who hurt people. Not only that, but natural disasters happen for no unforeseen reason, which can land people in a world of discomfort and tragedy. I love how God can take that ugly stuff, the tumultuous situations in our life and redeem them. He redeems them when we use them in the lives of others. He brings healing to our wounded hearts when we give the hope to others that was given to us from Christ. Whatever you’ve walked through…whatever you have endured…whatever path you’ve walked…therein lies your opportunity to bring healing and comfort to another. Pay it forward. Christ did.
I don’t think the way you think. The way you work isn’t the way I work. God’s Decree: For as the sky soars high above earth, so the way I work surpasses the way you work, and the way I think is beyond the way you think. (The Message)What I love about this passage is that is provides me peace when I don’t grasp the things happening around me. I find it comedic, actually, when people don’t think they can believe in God because they don’t understand everything about Him. If you hear one thing today, hear this: We are not perfect. Therefore, we will not understand every move God makes or every plan He has. So, when those days come, and they will, when you don’t understand why your spouse won’t work on your marriage, when your child comes down with a debilitating disease, how you’ll buy groceries for your family, why you can’t find a job, why your dreams on earth don’t seem to come true even though you are following hard after Christ, rest. Rest in the fact that He created the Heavens and Earth in six days and that He is absolutely in control of the universe. Andy Stanley says, “You don’t have to understand everything to believe in something.” Something to think about…
If you have yet to “meet” my friend, Alece, then you have robbed yourself of a blessing. She is yet another “blog friend” whose neck I’ve yet to hug. But, I’m believing that 2010 will be the year. It has to be the year. It better be the year 🙂 I could read Alece’s words all day long and twice on Sunday. Vulnerability oozes from the words she chooses and her ability to create pictures with said words eludes me. She is nothing short of brilliant, ifidosaysomyself. Alece pours out her heart at Grit and Glory. Go check her out. You won’t be disappointed.
