Man, I love a new year. I love a new pair of unwashed socks. I love a soft blanket until it gets its first wash. I love a new package of chips.
I guess you could say I love newness, fresh starts, the beginnings of things.
Maybe it’s placed into us as human beings. This desire for a new, fresh thing. God promises us new things but the great thing for us is that we don’t have to wait until January 1st every year. We can have it every day.
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
My challenge and encouragement to you is this: If you blow the new eating plan one Thursday afternoon, start again at the next meal. If you lose your cool with your kids, ask their forgiveness and make a better choice the next time. If you skip out on your visits to the gym, start over the next day.
January 1st is a great day. I love it. But, it’s not the only day that we can start over.
Every day is an opportunity to begin anew. Thank God for that.
