Because He does, you know.

Garth Brooks sings a song called Unanswered Prayers. Even though I know every word to this song, I have always been bothered by the title. And, if I’m being honest, I’m bothered when people say “God didn’t answer my prayer.”

Hear me in this…GOD ALWAYS ANSWERS OUR PRAYERS.

Just because we don’t get the answer we want doesn’t mean He hasn’t answered. Why do we think that answers always have to be in the affirmative? And better yet, what if His answer is wait?

There was a particular guy I dated in college before Chris entered my world. He was a decent guy but definitely had his flaws. I prayed that he’d be my husband one day. And when he broke my heart, I was sad that God didn’t answer my prayer.

Later I realized that God had indeed answered it. He just simply said no.

I can’t imagine going through life on this earth with anyone other than Chris.

I’m thankful for no’s. It means that God has something better for me.

God gives His best to those who leave the choice to Him.

“Just other night at a hometown football game…..” I’ll be singing it for the rest of day :-) Good stuff!

Oh, man….my life would be so much different now if He’d have answered YES to all my prayers! ; ) Good thing He’s God and I’m NOT!

    so good

it’s hard to wait on the Lord, but worse to wish you had. Learned that the hard way…

what i love about God is that there are no gray areas. His answers are pretty straight forward. Yes. No. Not yet. That simple. we always tend to make it harder by whining and crying about His timing.

had he answered yes to some of my requests I’d be in a heap of hurt.

    nicely put

What a mess I made of my life when I didn’t listen to His NO and decided to do my YES!! Thankfully He is faithful to us and he pulled me back in. I am soooo blessed now I just had to take a nasty detour to get to where He wanted me to be to begin with.

How true! He is alway faithful and good and knows just what we need. I am glad that I can trust in that. Thanks!

I’m so glad He always answers and sometimes even because He has said “no” (that usually comes some time afterward however).

My longest prayer (that was ‘answered’): Approximately six years.

Current ones pending for answer: nine years+ and counting.

It is not easy to ‘interpret’ or to listen to God’s answer sometimes (heck make that most of the time).

I used to be ‘he didn’t answer my prayers’ kind of person untill this past couple of years. He always knows what’s best for us and like to teach us as well . Great reminder today thank you!!

i totally agree. it is so simple but an awesome reminder. and i’ve prayed some really stupid things before. how embarassing. =)

So wise! An answer is an answer, even if you don’t like it. :)

Like so many, I am now thankful for ‘unanswered prayers’…I guess hindsight is 20/20 indeed.

Thank you Lord for not giving me everything I have prayed for the way I prayed for it!!!

Before I met my husband, I truly thought that I had met my future husband. I had been praying to marry a really good guy friend of mine thinking that we were so perfect for each other. Thank God it didn’t happen! Not that there was any thing majorly wrong with my guy friend, he makes a great husband to his now wife. But looking back on it, I don’t think we would have had as close of a marriage connection that I now have with MY husband. My husband is much better suited for me than any other guy that I ever had a crush on or dated would have ever been! I firmly believe that God’s timing is perfect if we trust Him enough to let Him have control of our lives!

So Cindy and Julie both mentioned their prospective husbands. Turns out, God had different men in mind.

Once or twice or something like it, I had thought I had met my prospective bride. Turns out, God has someone else in mind. Or maybe no one at all.

And I can live with that.

Great post and reminder of God’s sovereignty.

Sweet, simple, yet profound. Sometimes No is the most beautiful word we can hear, we just don’t know it at the time.

God always knows best. There are two dreams I have had. One dream was to have a house and the other was to have a husband. I made both of them an idol. They placed me on the most devastating trips and I caused myself so much trouble. Each time I GOT them for myself, they slipped right out of my hand. But, as Amy Grant sang in her song,”So Glad”, I am so glad that I’m happy sad that he tore it all away, everything I ever thought that I would be. Once I held it in my hand, but it was a kingdom made of sand. Now that He took it all away, I can’t believe that I can say that I’m glad.
