Truth Vs. Lie – Part 1

Lie: I will never be able to break this habit. Truth: So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. (Galatians 5:16) Faith Statement: Feed the Spirit and the flesh will starve. Lie: God will never forgive me for what I’ve done. Truth: If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9) Faith Statement: I am fully forgiven. Lie: I can’t do anything right. Truth: I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13) Faith Statement: I’ll do my part and leave the rest to God. Lie: I’ll never be smart enough. Truth: If any of you lacks wisdom he should ask God who gives generously to all without finding fault and it will be given to him. (James 1:5) Faith Statement: God, give me wisdom beyond my years. Lie: God doesn’t really love me or He wouldn’t let bad things happen to me. Truth: “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) Faith Statement: God has my best interest at heart.

  1. You have confirmed something that God and I spoke about this morning in prayer when I said to Him that I will do everything that I can on my end and I know You Lord will take care of the rest. God is so good and faithful. Have a blessed day!!

  3. Amen sister!!! Have you read Lies Women Believe by Nancy Leigh DeMoss? AWESOME resource for identifying lies and replacing them with God’s Truth. Wonderful post, thank you!

  4. I think the tricky thing is that we either forget, or are never taught, that identifying the lie isn’t enough…we have to then replace it with Truth. If we don’t, there’s a giant hole the enemy uses to come back even stronger. And Satan is so sneaky with his lies…most of the time we don’t even realize what we’re thinking or believing IS a lie. That’s why we must take our thoughts CAPTIVE and make them obedient to Christ (2 Cor. 10:5). That’s the only time we even realize the things we’re thinking about…when we actually stop and think about what we’re thinking about! Joyce Meyers’ Battlefield of the Mind is another excellent resource. It opened my eyes that eventually led me to freedom!

  5. Throughout my life statements like these have come up in my life. Gretchen is right Satan will try to use negative statements to derail us where God wants us. I never ever thought I could experience freedom from a sin that had taken over my life, but I am and its so awesome. Satan tries really hard to tell me negative things but He cant God has already won this battle. I put on my spiritual armor every morning to guard myself from such attacks. Love this feed the Spirit starve theflesh. This is so true. Thank you for the reminder of truth vs lies.
Lies women believe is an awesome book it helped me so much with my walk in Christ. I look forward to part 2
