2010…A New Decade

Do you remember where you were at midnight on January 1, 2000? I was waiting for the world to implode with my bottled water and non-perishable items like ravioli and Ritz crackers. Not really. And here we are, ten years later. I’m excited about 2010.  I feel a sense of expectation on the horizon.  New opportunities are just around the corner.  Awesome experiences await for our family as we trust more and more in our Risen Savior. I can feel it. Chris and I are participating in a 21-day Daniel Fast during this month.  Our pastor, Craig Groeschel, has asked the LifeChurch.tv staff to fast from food in some way.  At first, I was hesitant because it would be inconvenient and not very enjoyable. Because I like my coffee and Diet Dr. Pepper.  But on the Daniel Fast, I won’t be having my coffee and Diet Dr. Pepper. But, if I’ve learned one thing about sacrifice from my pastor, it’s this: It’s giving up something you love for something you love more. I believe God is calling Chris and me to do this.  I didn’t feel guilted or bullied into it.  No, it was a gentle, motivating, spiritual nudge and prodding by the Holy Spirit. And I’m actually looking forward to denying my flesh by focusing on feeding my spirit. On a lighter side, I am doing something fun the week of January 25th.  I’m doing my first ever giveaway.

  1. Happy new year sweet girl I will continue to read your blog each a.m. with my cup of coffee…I will be reminded as I drink my coffee that you are fasting yours…I will be praying for you. Praying that God will reveal more of His truth, love and peace to you and yours. That your ability to share all He has given will increase with more opportunities. I will BELIEVE for all that He has for you. Miss you all.

  2. 10 years ago I was eating Taco Bueno and watching Toy Story at the stroke of midnight while my 2 year old and 4 month old baby slept soundly in their beds — completely unaware their daddy had left us a few short weeks before.

10 years later I am living the immeasurably more. Wow, what a beautiful journey this life has been!

  3. I can’t remember what we did that year to celebrate. Where we would have been living to celebrate it. It doesn’t seem that 10 years have passed since then though. 2010. hmmm.. that is still a bit odd to me. Happy New Year. Can’t wait for the week of awesomeness. 🙂
